Describe this assignment:
We were required to create a project that helped people or improved the globe in some way. I chose to make puzzles for the 1st grade class. I used pictures of the walk down the road from school and of the sunset. I then turned in the puzzles for the students to put them together. After everything I made this presentation to wrap it all up. Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? I believe this assignment really honed in on my Thinking and Problem Solving skills since I hit multiple roadblocks while doing this whether it was the matter of cutting each piece or finding the right material for the backing. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I am very happy with how the puzzles turned out since they were of higher quality and the picture didn't fall off each piece. The kids really enjoyed them and I got some good feedback on how I improve upon them for my senior project. What was most difficult about completing this task? The hardest part of this project was definitely the initial making of the puzzles. We couldn't figure out the right glue and material to making the backing out of. When it came to cutting each piece out we went through a couple of ideas such as scissors, kitchen knives, and even a laser printer. When these methods weren't successful or didn't cut through smoothly we decided to buy a exacto-set of blades. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? I would have definitely increased the amount of pieces I used since the students said that they were too easy to put together. The reason I went with 20 piece puzzles in the first place was because Ms. Brenda said to keep it simple with larger pieces. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? I have made presentations and journal-like updates in past classes so I was able to use my knowledge on notetaking and slideshow editing to create a easily understandable and informational demonstration. How can you apply this to future learning? Knowledge on editing and information gathering is extremely useful throughout life and can be used in many fields. Also by my project being about puzzles, I'm able to improve my own and others, who complete them, motor skills and pattern recognition. |
