What did this assignment entail?
-"For Tuesday, you need to prepare TWO claims. One should be related what we're learning in the class. Please refer to any of the attached articles to help inspire. The second claim can be any thought-provoking, academically-minded topic of your choice. You may bring up a controversial topic, as long as you can lead a respectful, mature conversation around it." What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? -I'm very happy with how the conversation went since we were all able to bounce ideas and opinions off of eachother in the time given. I'm also happy with the question I chose for this assignment since it allowed for an in-depth but compact subject to discuss. "Only old people farmed in the ancient world." This related to the topic of our class since we were talking about ancient civilizations and how there was a divide between those who wanted to stay and farm vs hunt and scavenge. What was most difficult about completing this task? -Since the easiest part for this was the conversation, I would have to give the hardest part to finding an adequate question to ask the group. I had to make sure that it was able to sustain a mildly lengthy back and forth with the other members while also not taking up too much time for other peoples questions. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? -If I could do this again I would've chose a more interesting second question since I definitely feel like I was lacking for it. Luckily while we were talking I was able to change my off-topic question to something more on-topic with the discussion. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? How can you apply this to future learning? -We have had different types of discussions and debates throughout the years for assignments. This helped expand my debating skills with others while also letting me think more in-depth on some topics. Discussions and debates are used all throughout life so this was a very good way to improve our skills for the future. Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? -This certainly targeted my Communication Skills as it was a group conversation on Global Awareness. By promoting active listening, respectful dialogue, and critical thinking. It encouraged us to express our ideas clearly and engage with diverse perspectives, enhancing our overall communication abilities. |
