Describe this assignment:
We were required to construct a presentation about combining ancient empires. We were given the Ming and Qing Dynasty, Ottoman Empire, Russian Empire, and the Mughal Empire to choose from. I was in a group with Kaimano, Kyle and Secrett where we separated the 4 examples amongst ourselves to study up on. After we had filled out the information paper for all of our empires, we created a multi page slide explaining what we took from each example and what wouldn't work. We ended our collaboration with a 5 slide + intro presentation. Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? This assignment focused on our Interpersonal Skills and Global Awareness. We needed to research these ancient civilizations and how their politics, hierarchy, military, and economy worked. By splitting the research portion between the four of us, we were able to do less work individually and then communicate afterwards on our findings. The presentation also allowed us to show our individual knowledge on the overall presentation by having us present on our own to a select group of classmates instead of the entire class. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? I’m very happy with how the slides and my presentation went with my grade on this assignment reflecting that. We had to present by ourselves in a new group of classmates as seen in the picture where we all would present our own slideshows to each other. What was most difficult about completing this task? The most difficult part was the initial communication and trying to figure out what portions we needed from each empire. We would frequently get into debates on what parts would work better. We soon got our plans figured out and made a well balanced empire in my opinion. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? If I could restart this assignment, I would have decorated the slides better with a template instead of a white background, otherwise I’m content with how it turned out. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? Since I've done projects like this before I was able to use project building to make this turn out well. How can you apply this to future learning? I believe this assignment was an extremely helpful group learning experience that now allows me to recite multiple facts on the given empires. |
